The elaboration form of SEO is  “search engine optimization.”  SEO is the process of getting traffic from the  SEARCH ENGINE for “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results.

In a word we can say that, Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to the website through organic search engine results.

That means a people will search something on the Search Engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing  and Top Search Engine List)  They will get the results from there.
As for Example,
This websites name is ” Answers Mode  and it’s URL or Address is https://www.answersmode.com” If you search on any search engine by typing Answers Mode then you will get this website. You don’t need to remember this websites full address. and it comes for Proper SEO.
